Customer Spotlight: Versature
By: Eric Hernaez on April 10th, 2012
This is the first blog in a series that will identify and highlight some cool things that NetSapiens customers are doing with the NetSapiens SNAPsolution platform.
This installment is about Versature, an ITSP providing hosted PBX in Canada. In business since 2003, Versature found its start in the technology consulting business of founder Paul Emond, when he implemented an IP-PBX to communicate with remote workers more effectively. After realizing that the technology could fill needs that were unmet by traditional small business telephone systems and Bell Canada (the legacy phone company) Emond, and co-founder and CTO Adam Sherman, set out to build a business that would leverage the flexibility and efficiency of VoIP.
A Hosted PBX Software as a Service (SaaS) model was the logical solution – providing the features and services without the hardware, hassles, or capex of premises equipment. Today, Versature’s feature set, pricing models, and network have become sophisticated, robust, and widespread throughout Canada. Versature’s Customers embrace the feature set, the fact that there are no long-term contracts, the customer service that the Company provides from quote through to fulfillment, and pricing that allows them to save money while at the same time increasing their capabilities.
Versature has truly leveraged the NetSapiens platform to automate and improve the customer experience. Prospective customers are able to get online quotes, search for available telephone numbers and chat with account representatives, directly from the Company website. Once they are signed-up, customers can interact with the Versature hosted PBX features using the Versature Dashboard, a custom-built web application that appears in a persistent desktop window, and allows end users to view the presence and availability of team members (including call queues for customer support), access messages, and control advanced call handling features such as find-me-follow-me.
Using the NetSapiens API and the other network resources, Sherman has architected a totally cloud-based customer dashboard that effectively differentiates them from the competition, and scales linearly with predictable and cost effective price points. If you are a VoIP service provider looking to achieve similar results, do yourself a favor and call NetSapiens.
Although Versature is clearly on the move, and was recently recognized as a startup to watch by the Ottawa Business Journal, the road wasn’t without obstacles. The Company deployed several less than ideal solutions – including Asterisk open source VoIP and the CommuniGate SIP engine – before finding NetSapiens. NetSapiens offered a mature and reliable platform that could accommodate the Company’s growth as well as provide the foundation to build new and innovative services – all with an outstanding ROI.
